Virgin Galactic have launched their Space Ship that will soon be taking tourists into Space…
Best of all – they’ve named it the VSS Enterprise (yeah – I know – I’m a Trekkie!!)
Trouble is – it costs $200000 – I’m not sure de Ferrers can afford to send us – so time to start saving!!

Galaxyzoo sound like too much effort… use the spare power in your PC and join BOINC.
This progam runs in the background – even just as the screen saver for a slow PC – and does complicated calculations for a variety of Science experiments.
Over 300000 people are active members – doing work on projects such as;
- Einstein@Home – searching for Gravitational Waves
- SETI@Home – looking for Extra-terrestrial radio signals
- Rosetta@Home – lookign for cures to diseases
- ClimatePrediction.net – modelling climate change scenarios
It costs nothing, takes none of your time – but with over 300000 computers working at a time you are acting as part of one giant SuperComputer!

You can get involved in real-life Science with absolutely no effort from you…
Here you can help Astrophysicists identify Galaxies. The Human brain is far better at identifying patterns and shapes in photos than a computer is. From 1000′s of Galaxies photographed every day, you look at the photo and answer some multiple choice questions by clicking icons on screen… That’s it!! They’ve now added a second experiment – modelling Galaxies crashing!!
